Curriculum Design Enlightening Parenting: A New Approach in Islamic Primary Education in Indonesia
Keywords:
Curriculum, Enlightening Parenting, HARZING, Islamic Primary Education, Systematic Literature ReviewAbstract
In the modern era, Islamic primary education in Indonesia faces the challenge of designing a curriculum that is both innovative and responsive to the needs of parents and students. This study aims to explore and analyze curriculum design that integrates the concept of "enlightening parenting" using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach over the period 2020-2024. The SLR method was chosen to provide a comprehensive and structured understanding of existing literature, aiding in the identification of key themes and best practices applicable to the context of Islamic primary education. This SLR approach involves the use of HARZING software to organize, classify, and evaluate 53 relevant scholarly articles. The data analysis techniques employed include thematic coding and narrative synthesis. Thematic coding enables researchers to identify main themes from the existing literature, such as character development, understanding Islamic values, and active parental involvement. Meanwhile, narrative synthesis is used to combine findings from various studies into a cohesive narrative. The study's results indicate that an effective curriculum in Islamic primary education should incorporate key elements that support holistic student development. Among these elements are strong character development, a deep understanding of Islamic values, and enhanced parental involvement in the educational process. Parental involvement, in particular, is deemed crucial in ensuring that the education received by students at school aligns with the values applied at home. This study's findings are supported by 37 articles that demonstrate similar approaches in various primary education contexts, affirming the relevance and necessity of the proposed curriculum changes. Additionally, the research focuses on Islamic primary education institutions in Pasuruan, selected without using interviews and surveys as data collection instruments, but solely through literature review. In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of designing an enlightening curriculum as a strategy to strengthen collaboration between schools and parents, as well as to improve the overall quality of education. Consequently, this study is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of educational policies that are more inclusive and adaptive to the needs of parents and students in Indonesia
